I've been here awhile now, and i see people quoting previous posts, now i know how to quote text but how do i include "originally posted by" then the arrow link to that post?

At the bottom left corner of each post, there's a series of buttons. If you click the quote button, it will add all of the necessary info for the 'originally posted by' and the arrow.

There's also a multi-quote button (looks like a piece of paper with a small green circle) and you can click it on all of the posts you'd like to reply to. It will add separate tags and linkbacks for the posts you're quoting (like I did above)

Hope that helps :)

How do you quote something to make it stay in the bottom of your own posts? I don't get it.

swartlkk 04-07-2011 12:50 PM

It isn't a quote. It is your "signature". You change this by clicking on 'User CP' which is on the left side of the menu bar. Then click on 'edit signature' under 'Settings & Options'. Just type in whatever you want (within the signature rules).

I thought it was the signature, but I've seen quotes under them, like this: (I despise attachments, but they're quicker)
I wanted to give credit where its due, cuz I didn't come up with it and all

swartlkk 04-07-2011 01:05 PM

Well that is a quote in a signature. Just use the *quote* & */quote* tags replacing the * with the appropriate bracket [ or ]. If you copy and paste the quote out of a new post/reply window, it will provide a link to the post that you quoted as well as the author's screen name.

I got it! Computer illieteracy is an ugly thing. Thanks!
