Tell the world a little bit about your vehicle
This Blazer is an anomaly for me. I've been a lifetime fan of small, fun cars with a fondness for Japanese and European cars on a limited budget. My last two cars were BMW's and I swore that I'd never own anything other than a Bimmer ever again. Fast forward to not being able to get my precious Bimmer to pass GA emissions for almost 9 months and I'm suddenly less enamoured with them. Long story short, I traded my 1995 318 ti in an even swap for my 1997 Chevy Blazer 4x4 LS and have discovered that I like this thing more and more as time goes on. I wish the gas mileage was better, but except for that I have no complaints about my Blazer. She still needs some improvements but so far I think I may officially be hooked. Solid, practical, fun and relatively easy to maintain. What more could you want?
Engine/Drivetrain Modifications:
No mods yet. I have just maintained and tried to moderately improve things. There was a small tranny fluid leak when I first got her that was fixed at a local Aamco. Nothing special.
At just under the 150,000 mile mark I've had the Torque Converter Clutch Regulator Valve replaced. Was told by the tranny shop that the pan looked clean and the transmission looked in good shape.
Also replacing the Catalytic converter at 150k.
Will be having the u-joints done within the next few months.
Suspension Modifications:
None, and am planning on leaving that part stock for now. We'll see how long that lasts.
Wheels/Tires Modifications:
Got some seriously kick ass Michelin's at about 143k miles. They have absolutely changed everything about the way this thing rides. I've always gone with good tires before but have never experienced anything like the difference that the Michelin's made on my Blazer.
Interior/Exterior Modifications:
No exterior mods yet.
I installed a decent Kenwood head unit so that I could use my iPod. It's got both a usb input and a second aux jack input as well.
I've got a ProFit mount to install on the dash. I'm going to use that to mount the iPod and will probably add a 2nd mount to it as well for either my cell phone or my Garmin Nav system.
Future Modifications:
Would eventually like to get a nice set of wheels but haven't decided what and/or when.
