I bought this 4WD machine from the original owner, it's a Base model 2 door Blazer, 5 speed MT, Manual engage 4wd, manual seats and manual windows. Rear mounted spare tire swing arm, painted steel wheels with beauty rings.
142,000 miles when I bought in October of 2009. and has 212,000 now ( 01/2016 ).
Engine/Drivetrain Modifications:
Repairs and Upgrades include: Lower intake manifold gasket ( dealership parts ), Airtek Fuel pump assembly, Lifetime starter & Alternator, Optima Battery, idler pulley & new serpentine belt, flushed coolant and heater core system and replaced with regular antifreeze. Upgraded plugs (to NGKTR5GP platinum ), and K&N filter. 1/2011 cleaned IAC plunger and seat, installed an OEM TPS. Replaced the IAC, replaced the upper plenum (3) gaskets, cleaned the carbon from the upper intake plenum and the Throttle body. 06/2012 replaced the Fuel Injection spider and FP regulator ( OEM AC Delco ), recharged the AC, replaced the factory radiator with an OVERsized towing package radiator, flushed the cooling system and heater core again. Replaced the Airtek fuel pump with a Delphi fuel sending unit and integral fuel pump (04/2014), new AC Delco distributor ( 202k miles 07/2014 ). Synthetic oil used since 142k miles. rear U-joint replaced ( 206k miles 03/2015 ), new Optima battery ( 11/2015 ), new AC Delco 7mm plug wire set 01/2016 ( 212,000), new AC Delco TPS, AC Delco PCV and WIX paper air filter (212,600).
Suspension Modifications:
Both front wheel bearing assemblies 11/2010 ( Timken 156 dollars each ), 10/2011 replaced all four ball joints, and the front brake pads. 06/2012 added towing capability by adding a HD receiver. Both front wheel bearing assemblies again ( Timken 131 dollars each ) 08/2012. Rear brake assemblies, shoes, hardware and parking brake hardware replaced 06/2013. Warrantied the front brake pads @ 208,000 miles 06/2015.
Wheels/Tires Modifications:
Various sets of rims and tires including Blizzak tires on the steel rims, low profile tires on 1996 Z28 rims, and now I have brand new 235.70.16 BFG Rugged Trail tires on the 2001 Xtreme 2wd rims.
Interior/Exterior Modifications:
Painted and installed ZR2 wheel flares to cover the Xtreme wheel offset, painted the dark trim behind the rear wheel to match the body and wheel flare color. Replaced the rear hatch with a tinted rear window. Replaced the roof rack with a longer one from a 4 door Blazer. Installed a good Stereo, ran new wires to the new 6x9 rear speakers, ran new RCA lines for a rear sub. Ran a 100 amp power line from the battery to a 6 place fuse panel mounted under the rear seat, then ran a 10 amp lead from that circuit to a toggle switch in my center console that controls the power to a rear mounted amp and subwoofer. Custom painted my fiberglass Yakima Space Case to match the silver and black features of the blazer windows. Painted the sunfaded rear window trim. Added a trailer wiring harness and blade type connector. Added bike fork mounts on the back side of the rear seats 06/2015.
Future Modifications:
low profile fog lights mounted somewhere, small push bar, maybe nerf bars. Add an overhead console. Add a leaf to the rear suspension and crank the torsion bars. Put spare tire carrier back on (painted silver of course) with a matching Xtreme rim and BFG tire.
