Do I need a new fuel pump?
Are there symtoms/noises that will let me know the fuel is going bad?
I have a 1994 S-10 Blazer 4x4, 4.3 W engine.
My fuel pump is noisey.
Thanks

noisey? If it runs on key turn for a few seconds, then it's doing it's job. Abit of advice, if it does ever fail, it's not a fun job and use origanl OEM pumps, stay a way from the chains, you'll be glad you did.

when mine when it started choken and sputtering and i had like no power lol but like the guy above says dont cheap out if it is bad...these blazers are picky ...found that out the hard way ...OME all the way when it comes to that it will cost a bit more but it will be worth it in the long run

Don't forget to change the fuel filter if it is straining or loses power but still runs. With the really bad fuel (ethanol) we now have there is lots of moisture in the tank which can turn into rust which can turn into a clogged fuel filter.
I wonder how many pumps have been changed due to a bad filter?
If you change it, disconnect the battery. De-pressurize the system at the Schrader Valve on the fuel rail (left side). Otherwise you get drenched in 55 psi driven fuel when you disconnect the lines to the filter.
Hope this helps.

Yes.. fuel pumps get noisy before they die.. especially cheap ones. But all of them get noisy when they are wearing out. They can fail internally for other reasons without getting noisy first but GENERALLY OEM pumps get noisy and even have some bearing rattle before they lose minimum pumping capacity.
Sorry.. ethanol as an alcohol attracts water but good 10% doesnt 'give up' that water. I dont care for the ethanol blend but lets put the blame where it belong station tank maintenance.
Watery, dirty gas comes from stations with old bad, poorly maintained tanks. Buy from the seedy run down kwiki mart .. that's what you're gonna get sooner or later.
High volume stations.. best selling local brand and you wont have that problem.
