Default New Member, Questions about 1985 S10 Blazer

Hello All,

I'm new here on the blazer forum. I recently purchased a 1985 S10 Blazer Tahoe edition here in AZ. I sold my 1988 Toyota 4Runner that I thought I would never sell. I wanted to buy american and had to have this blazer when I saw it! Here is the info: 60,000 miles on Box B. 3.4 Swap (about 8,000 miles on crate motor), rebuild 700r4 transmission, 4x4, 5" trailmaster lift, bigger springs in the rear, not blocks! Clean interior and clean paint. I will post pictures soon as I am having my mechanic refresh the front end suspension/steering because it was bad and couldn't get it aligned.

I have a few questions about the 3.4. I have been researching and it seems like these are fairly easy swaps. Here are the questions:

What oil do you guys use on these engines? Regular dino oil? 10w-30?

Can I get an edelbrock 4 barrel or something on the 3.4 without any major modifications? What else to add more hp?

What else should I know about these engines since I am trying to get familiar with my new purchase.

I am so used to the 22re on the Yota's and am excited to get to know the 3.4 and look forward to driving my new rig. I want to drive the truck as is for awhile and then when I get the itch to start getting more power I will do it! Thanks for any input.

first off, you'd probably have more responses if you'd post in the right section. 1st Gen S-series (1983-1994) Tech - Blazer Forum - Chevy Blazer Forums

For oil, regular ol 5w30 will work. As when it comes to the intakes etc,you can,but with them being so costly, you could find a v8 setup for a few bills more and make more then what you could going with what you have.
