Default 02 Blazer problem

Hi guys new to this forum I was hoping to get some help here. So my problem is I have an 02 extreme and can't get the key to turn in the ignition. My steering doesn't lock at all. the thing is i have remote start and can start it and turn the plastic gear on the ignition switch to the on position and drive it. just can't turn the key. bought new lock cylinder for it and drill out old tumblers to try and turn the cylinder in the on position to remove it but still won't turn at all. Please any help would be great. thanks

not sure how yours looks but i had a similar problem on a toyota and pretty much had to remove everything related to the ignition switch and forced it to the acc position to release the lock. try posting pics of the cyl and steering column im guessing you have the covers taken off

like i said i removed the sensor part of the switch which is usually located behind the ignition cyl and then with a screwdriver i forced it into the unlock location and it came out. see what most likely happened is that your cylinder or something broke off and is causing it to jam up so try to remove as much as possible to prevent damage to the housing or steering column if that's where its mounted
