Brake light switch instructions?
#23
Question? How to remove the upper panel under dash?
I have the 7 mm screws out, but the parking brake handle keeps me from removing it from the vehicle. Where is a step X step on how to remove the panels without breaking anything? The one's I found start with the panels already off! Thanks, Jim OP

I'm having the same problem. I replaced the combo turn signal switch and my brake lights quit working. I took the brake light switch off and the switch looks new, no signs of wear. I cannot figure out how the switch even works. It does not compute. There is no adjustment on the switch.

WD, this is a frustrating trouble to chase. Let me ask: I am assuming the 'combo turn signal switch' is the 'multi function switch which is the turn signal stalk with all its many functions plus the hazard switch. Please start with the easiest , cheapest and most obvious solutions first. Check the four 'two element' bulbs in the rear. Remember to check both filaments in each bulb! IOW the tail light filament could be working and the brake light filament be burned out. Replace them if you can't test them. Then check the fuses in both fuse panels. I say remove and test each fuse with a DVOM. Pay close attention to the red 15 amp fuses at the bottom right. Now to the 'switch looks new' brake light switch. It is difficult to look at any electrical part and see if it is working correctly without testing it. Please test it. I refer you to the FSM on this. This is a relatively inexpensive part --$10.00--- IIRC, so you may want to replace with a good brand name since it sounds like you already have it off. I rec. AC Delco or I used BWD - a div. of Borg Warner--since my AAP didn't have the AC Delco in stock. I have read in this forum about 'adjustment' and I am like you not familiar with any 'adjustment'. Again, I refer you to the FSM for more info on this adjustment. .....I am hoping this helps. If not, you may have to go back in and replace the new 'multi function switch' which I don't wish on anyone. WD, please help those on the Blazer forum who are wanting to help by always posting the yr. and model and equipment of your vehicle. It is easy to put that info in your signature so you won't have to remember to add it each time. Thanks, Jim in SC without a FSM or a Haynes manual, even! Good luck!
