Default should i replace thermostat?

Hi guys just a quick question here, when i have my heat on full it seems to be working but the ehat just doesnt seem like its hot enough. In other words its taking a while for my truck to heat to a comfortable temp. Will changing the thermostat make my beast blow real hot air?

its possible if its stuck open. if its never been changed before it wouldnt hurt they arent that expensive. you can touch the heater hoses going to the cab, if they are only warm then that might be your problem. if they are very hot to the touch and you still have warm heat might be a heatercore blockage. but start at the thermostat first. cheep and pretty easy to do

Make sure your coolant level is correct, Start the motor, drive or idle, watch your temp gauge. It should slowly rise then stop for a moment then all of a sudden drop a couple of degrees. It should cycle like this. If it does not it is stuck open or someone took it out and did not replace it. This happens when it gets stuck closed and truck overheats, they pull it for a quick fix and get lazy.

The heater core is in the dash, but It is not hard to flush out, witch fixes it in most cases. I know there is a thread about it around here somewhere. Search heater coil Bro.
