2001 Blazer 4.3 Fuel Pressure Drop at Fuel Filter
Working on a friends car, wont start, 60psi of fuel pressure when pump is running (key on for 2 seconds or relay bypass) as soon as the pump stop running pressure drops to 0 and does not hold.
Truck wont start. I want to find the cheapest route possible.
Checked pressure at fuel filter in the middle of the truck and pressure doesnt hold there either which makes me believe leak is behind filter at tank.
I've done some reading and read that aftermarket setups are bad. is this true?
what do i need exactly. I read it is the check valve. is that part of the sending unit??? or is it inside the actual pump itself.

I have been having the same problem for quite some time now. The only way I could get it to start was using either and once it started it ran fine. I changed the fuel pressure regulator and still the same problem. Just recently I had to change the intake gaskets because they were leaking water. I still have the fuel pressure problems but now it will start on fuel after 4 or 5 attempts.
I get 60 psi when the pump starts and as soon as it stops fuel pressure goes to zero. I am wondering if it isn't the Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor. I have a used pump here and I am going to try that and I will update once I find out.

Mine is a 2001 4.3 and I just finished changing the fuel pump. Problem solved. I now have 64psi when I turn the key on and after about 2 seconds it drops to about 58psi. Once it starts I have about 54psi.
