Default Ignition Timing

Hi
I have a simple question. I know that ignition timing is not adjustable on these trucks but, if I check it at idle with a timing light, what should it roughly be at?
Don
PS- Forgot to mention, it's a 97 jimmy 4wd A/T in case it matters.

It will vary from 20 to 30 or so degrees advanced.

Thanks robertr728. The reason I am asking is because the truck seems to run on 5 cyl. I just put this engine in and it has not run ok yet. I checked my timing and I am getting 17deg. @ 1000rpm and 20 @ 1200rpm. The mil light is flashing continuously and it is not registering a code. I pulled wire #3 and there is no change in idle or timing. If the dist. was of 1 tooth, could this cause these symptoms? All plugs and wires are new.
