Throwback Thursday

That's an awesome pic! I spent many days running around the farm on a 3 wheeler until my kidneys hurt! We had a Honda 110, 185 and a Big Red. It was all fun and games until we would try to go up the gravel pit walls and ended up rolling down.

Yeah, our was a 90cc; I probably shouldn't even be alive...

It was a blast. I built it from a kit, welded everything, rebuilt the engine and painted it. I learned a lot doing it and had fun. VW engines are simple, no electronic sensors and all of that stuff. I only had brakes on the rear. The front was light enough that I could pick it up.

Here's a picture from the late 80's with one of our farm trucks. It was a 73 K10. I still have the engine, transmission, and transfer case from this truck, but it has long since gone to the crusher. I'm the one in the glasses laying on the roof. Thank God for contacts and later laser eye surgery!

Here's a few pictures of me playing in the pit with my K5:
I have gotten a few deer out of the little strip of woods near the pit, but do most of my hunting down along the county drainage ditch (creek) that runs through the east side of the 350 acres that is the farm. There are close to 20 acres of woods there with a few ponds that make for some really good hunting. I took two deer and a 70lb coyote this year from my stand near one of the ponds.
Hard to believe that I picked up my K5 nearly 6 years ago!
