So bought a 1987 chevy blazer s-10 v6 2.8. the first night i drove it home it ran fine. the next morning it wouldn't start. I took it to the shop and they said it was the fuel pump. they changed the pump and it starts but now when it idles, it skips kinda like when the timing is off and the engine like blinks when it skips. when i press the gas pedal it goes as if it wants to cut off(and does 50% of the time). I changed the coolant temp sensor, and the ecm. the funny thing is it does it 80% of the time and sometimes it works as if it doesn't have any problems.

Was it throwing any codes? Sounds to me more like an ignition mod going bad and they just jumped on the fuel pump bandwagon without knowing that was actually bad or not.

nope, no codes but i can say that the ignition doesn't look original. it doesn't have the little wing looking things sticking out of the hole. idk if that matters or not but ill try and change that today

did they install a ac delco or delphi pump? these suckers are picky. if they put in an airtek then god help you.

Not talking about the crank. Its in the dizzy under the cap. The things are bad about going out and it controls spark and fuel pulse to the injectors.

Replace the map sensor, they go bad.

As far as your dashboard lights, the blinking light SHOULD show a code, however I've never seen that. Also, your gas guage is at empty.....hmmm.
Furthermore, if you just bought this vehicle, how long has it had "old gas" in it? Fuel is only good for about 4 - 5 months - - I also like the posts above...
That is all.
