ok ive done some mechanic work but not enough obviously to get my blazer running so be kind please and explain fully on what needs to be done. so my blazer has been sitting for multiple years probably like 4 most likely 4 years i went to put a battery in it and cranks but wont start so i thought it was the fuel pump changed that put a new fuel filter in as well and still no luck but it runs when i spray starting fluid on it unitl that runs out i hear from different sources its the distributor or the ignition control module but i plan on running more tests on it tomorrow morning any suggestions on what to do thanks for the help in advance it is greatly appreciated

 

You need: Fuel, Spark, Compression, Timing.
If it runs with starting fluid you have spark and Timing and compression

Fuel:
1.Are the Injectors firing. A NOID Test Light can be used to verify that you have pulse to the injectors.
2. Are the injectors spraying fuel?
3. Fuel pressure correct. TBI likes 9-11 psi running.. There is no test port for TBI from the factory. Need to have a test gauge installed.
The easiest place to install a test gauge inline is at at the fuel line connection at the frame rail.
The TBI has a fuel pressure regulator internal to the TBI. You may have a faulty regulator.
The regulator consists of a spring and diaphragm
