I have a 1993 chevy blazer 4.2L v6 vortec that all of a sudden had an issue it died on me on ny way home and now wont stay started. The car was sitting for 3 years and i was told if i can start it i can have it. I drained the fuel replaced the pump and filter and boom it was good. I drove it fir a couple weeks and it died on ne at a stop sign. Once it dies it wont start again for hours but it will start again then die after 20 seconds then wont start for 6 hours theb start for 20 seconds. Its weird ive replaced the battery, coil, plug wires, cleaned all the electrical connections, checked and replaced fuses. Ive taken the tank off again so I can make sure the fuel pump was actually pumping it pumps during cranking and primes before trying to turn the motor over at one point I thought maybe it was my fuel pump again but I haven't had time to test the pressure on the fuel rail if you guys have any suggestions I don't know what to do please let me know also I found a loose wire that looks like it slips aren't you like a little metal connection right behind the coil on the firewall that when I put 12 volts to it it turns on my fuel pump does anybody know what that little wire is

I sounds like the same problems we are having with our 97 Blazer. I found a thread on here about it being the distributor. If you have to replace the entire distributor, there is something that you will need to do to reset the timing. That is exactly what we are doing right now. I'll let you know if it works.

I agree, Next place to look is the distributor, in particular the ignition module.
On the older Blazers the ignition module which is on the distributor can go bad like this.
Can check with a spark tester. Obviously has spark when running and no spark when it dies. This would rule out fuel issues.
Several similar symptoms.
Runs fine when cold, then dies - no start until hours later.
Runs fine when cold - once turned off will not start until cold.
Your symptoms
Does run fine - stops, does not start no more.
