Hey Y'all!

I've been doing a bit of reading on this issue, and it seems I'm not the only one. I'm relatively new to this sort of thing, so I'm doing my best to try and diagnose the issue. Essentially, when cold starting the vehicle, it'll usually stall nearly immediately. It'll stall another 1-2 times when I try to reverse out of park. For the next couple of minutes, it'll ride rough and try to stall on me (Seems to be alleviated when I shift into park at lights and just sit on the throttle). If I haven't driven enough, it'll stall when I pull in to the spot (But I can usually just glide in at that point). During all this, I see a lot of hesitation when accelerating as well, which I suspect is tied to the same issue.

What we've checked/replaced:

Distributor
IAC (Didn't clean the valve though so might go back and try that)
TPS
MAP
EGR (cleaned too)
Ignition Coil

Anything we should try? I love this truck, but the stalling is making it unfortunately a pain in the butt.

 

Is it doing this during warm up only?
Once it is above about 100 - 120 F it starts running fine?
If yes, this could indicate a coolant temperature sensor.

Then vacuum hoses. Check for vacuum leaks.
They can cause about the same problems in idle and just off-idle. At higher rpm it should get better if it is a vacuum leak, except if it is an important vacuum leak.

 

Yes, it only really happens during warm up. After its had time to run, it doesn't really have issues after.

I'll check out the coolant temp sensor, and vacuum hoses. We did suspect the vacuum hosing might be an issue (My dad had a similar issue before), so I'll check both. Thank you for the advice!

 

Just remember that there are two temperature sensors; one that sends the temperature to the gauge (on the passenger side of the engine near plugs), and the one near the thermostat at the front that sends the temp to the computer!
