Default 90 S10 SURGING

Hey all newbie here with a 90 s10 4.3 and have a question.

i picked the truck up a few months ago and notcied at a light it seems to surge a bit little rough idle and every say 10 seconds i would get a small surge like the idle drops for a split second.

i recently changed the plugs and wires and about to do the dizzy cap and rotor.

the truck does have 180,000 miles but runs great and has been taking care of .

thanks

i would say from experience with my 89 is to take the egr valve off and clean it out... could be a lil bit of carbon build up in there causing it to be slightly open... its always definatly helped out with me...

good luck

Hey Wesg24, I've manually actuated the EGR valve by pushing it w/ a long screw drivers while the engine is idling, and the truck damn near dies. Problem i've been having is intermittent where the truck bucks and stumbles while driving, but idles like gold. This has happened about only twice in the last 6 months, but as of the past few weeks it's like a twice a week occurence. Since it idles fine until I actuate it, does that mean the EGR valve is still in good condition, or should I remove it and clean it regardless?

Bump. I had a perfectly running truck, but wouldn't pass emissions. I ran SeaFoam through it, then changed the plugs (Delco's this time, Bosch's the 1st time), cap and rotor. I'm having the same issue again where it idles fine, but if I'm driving down the highway, I can get it to buck and stumble slighty when I flutter (or pump it up and down) the gas pedal slowly. WOT seems to actually be a little slower now to. Its been so long that I don't remember where to start looking again. I'll play w/ fluctuating the EGR valve manually again, but otherwise....any suggestions?
