Default 1st Gen eng. swap to 2nd Gen truck!

Hey all, I'm new to your site, so a big hello from bowling green,ky. I have a tech. question for you? Me and my son;who is about to turn 16, have started collecting S-series blazers and trucks(he has fallin' in love with them), for his first ride he has chosen to build an 94' S-10, that had a 2.2L, we were contemplating putting a 4.3L from a 93' jimmy; my question is this since I have the donor vehicle to salvage my parts from. Is this a worthy father/son project or a waste of time,I mean will these parts interchange. I am thinking I may need different motor/trans. mounts, and driveshaft, but what about the rest. It is the 4.3 with the TBI, and 4L60 trans. Your input would be greatly appreciated, Thanks.

Everything should swap over, but you may be in for a "fun" time. Wiring harnesses, etc will have to be swapped in as well. Is the 93 4.3L TBI or CPI?

The donor truck has a (4.3)TBI, I'm thinking just the wiring harness for the motor and the ecm is all I will have to change besides picking up the motor/tranny mounts and driveshaft from maybe a 2nd gen v6 model.

I am not all that familiar with the 2.2L I4 used in the s-10s. Is it a multi-point setup (individual injectors for each cylinder)? If so, you will need to change the fuel system around. The fuel pressure demands of a MPI setup is a lot higher than what is required for a TBI setup.

I was wrong I believe this set-up is CPI, correct me if I am wrong. The 2.2 was a MPFI. So I will need to know what fuel pressure to run these at and if they are compatible.

Yes, that is a CPI motor. And yes, the fuel pressure will be the same for the two. Hopefully the fuel pump can flow enough to support that engine.
