Default 2.8L Coolant Low Again, But No Leaks

The coolant is low, the overflow tank is dry. There are no drops of coolant under the car at all. (Oh wait that stupid skid plate is back on so I wonder if there's a puddle of it on top of that.) Oil level seems normal and oil looks good, I don't think there's coolant in it.

Over a year ago in March I had the same thing happen. So I had the heater core replaced and at the same time the thermostat and gasket. I should have done the work myself but I couldn't tell where the leak was but that's another story.

Then two months later last year in June the problem came back. This time had the timming cover gasket replaced because that's where the leak was, and both the upper and lower radiator hoses replaced, again at the shop, but I'm ok for paying for this repair as they also replaced the timing chain, etc.

Having said all that, I have a one year old heater core, thermostat and radiator hoses. So where the heck is my coolant going. As long as I keep topping it off the engine does not overheat. Could the thermostat be stuck in the open position? Would that cause the coolant to disapear. The car runs normal, but I'm tired for paying for antifreeze.

Have you replaced the cap? It could **** out while driving down the road and you may never be the wiser.

The flip side of that coin is that you may have an internal engine problem which is allowing coolant to be sucked into the cylinder(s) and then blown out the tail pipe.
