RE: 4x4 conversion?
Oh ok. I will move this into the 1st Gen Tech section then.
I did just read a TSB on this, but it is more centered around not coming out of 4LO or grinding when shifting between 4HI and 4LO... I will keep on looking.
Have you tried slowly rolling forward while trying to get into 4HI or 4LO? You do need to be in neutral before you actually shift into 4LO, but you can still be slowly rolling.

RE: 4x4 conversion?
so if i did the conversion and i pulled the cable to lock the front wheels in i would still need the transfer case to still work even if the front wheels are locked in?

RE: 4x4 conversion?
Yes, it would then be a two-step process to engage your front wheels. Push 4Hi or 4Lo, and then pull and lock the new cable.
The push buttons would engage the transfer case and the pull cable would lock the front wheels.

RE: 4x4 conversion?
is there a book or repair manual orsomething on how to fix this **** or is my best bet a new transfer case? weather man says winter weather is right around the corner for NEPA and rear wheel drive in the snow around here is only fun if you plan on not showing up to your destination or waiting for the snow to melt at one of the 1 billion mega steep hills
