it being possible that it could be the problem. u ever had a problem with this 4x4 engager?

The only thing with wires into it in the front diff is the switch which closes when the front diff is engaged. This should not prohibit the transfer case from changing modes. If you wanted to check this out, disconnect the switch and put a jumper wire across the pins in the connector. I do not know where the ceramic comment came from though...

not in PA but then again the pa line is a 20 minute drive PM me some pics and more info (price, year, condition, mileage etc) and i'll see if I can swing it would be great to get the wife her own so she stays out of mine lol
