88 blazer, key stuck in ignition switch
hi
i hope you can give me some help, i have an 88 blazer, auto on the column, tilt wheel, and the key is stuck in the run position it will rotate into the start position it will not rotate into the lock position so the key can be removed, the stearing wheel turns freely, and the shifter moves freely, it will rotate to start and it does start but shutting it off you have to pull the coil wire[>:] (ouch lol) i guess my question is before i pull the column apart is there anything else i can do? has any one had this problem before? is there any linkages running down the column that go to the firewall that might be hung up or stuck ?

Don't know if it will work but the same thing is going on with my 99 Bravada. Try jiggling the positive battery cable - that is working for me until i have time to diagnose/repair.

hi
well somewhere i was reading that there are two wires going to the tumbler that have to have 12v or it locks the tumbler so the key won't turn but i can't find the post now and it didn't explain why or what was switching the 12v to the tumbler or why it was set up this way i was hoppeing to find some one that has had one of these columns apart before, i might start taking it apart tomorrow and i will let you know what i find.

hi
i fixed my problem , i replaced the tumbler , the only problem i had was putting the retainer on for the stearing lock, i made a piece to push the stearing lock down and then put the clip on worked like a charm, and the two wires going to the tumbler is a switch ,
