88 blazer no idle control valve

Default 88 blazer no idle control valve

i took out icv tosee if it was dirty . started without valve it ran but idled right down and engine quit. having a high idle issue. can i run engine without this valve? will it hurt it in any way? it seemed some how i could rig trortle to keep engine idling . 88 blazer 2.8L 220 TBI. 40,000 mlies .

you cant run the motor without the i.a.c. mainly because it is the only valve your throttle body uses to control idle, when your butterfly in your tbi closes, it diverts air by this valve to regulate idle.did you touch the pintle on the valve when you had it out? they are very tempermental and dont like to be moved manually.just replace with a new one or get one from a junk yard from similar engine.also while its out clean the passage out real good with throttle body cleaner.hope this helps

thank's for your infomative answer. i did not figet with it i just looked at it. first i'll clean it like you said. if idle is still the same i'll go to the junk yard for one. for now i'll be closing this post.
