89 Spare size in/out?

GM is like 8% of cars in Lebanon, not to mention other American makers. Last few years GM cars became more popular thanks to "Avalanche", "Envoy", "Trail Blazer", new "Tahoe", and "Denali". And now smaller GM SUVs and small cars are gaining points over other makers too.

Yep. That's the ring. It sits a little off center. A full size 235 75R15 will sit there and the endgate will close. It's a close fot but it'll do it. Now you just need the rest of the parts. They may actually sell the stuff still. You just have to ask the GM parts guy.

Just letting you know you have options. It does take up a lot of room. But no restriction to vision at all. And it is full size. If I need more room I just flop down the rear seat.

i have seen some interrior mounted spare tires that were smaller than the ones on the truck. Maybe a 205 vs the 235 on the truck (about) as for the stock cover. It has elastic shock cords and it sould fit well, it is tight though so just work with it. If it wasnt tight on the tire it would flap in the wind.
As for noise in the rear of the vehicle.... My friend has an '89 with no tire carrier and his tailgate and glass rattle a lot. I have a carrier on my blazer and have no complaints.
If you just want the tire off the back for fourwheeling you might want to use good quality ratchet straps to secure the tire to the roof racks. The rack shoud have solid side rails to attach the straps to and the back bumper maks a good step to get to it.
