Default 91 S10 TBI EGR Valve

Is there a way to get the EGR valve off so that I can clean it without taking off the throttle body?

On the Vortec, yes. On the non-Vortec:

You can do it...but its a royal pita. I did it with a small wrench and alot of cussing. ended up pulling the throttle body. but its not too much harder to do,couple of clips for the linkages,3 bolts etc and fuel lines. While the tbi is off clean it too! 2 birds 1 stone.

I was thinking about rebuilding the tbi, but this is my first, and I don't want to screw anything up.

Nothing really to screw up honestly. Remove the little hex screws, pull out the injectors, slide off the tiny fuel filters and replace, replace pressure regulator/diaphragm,replace gaskets, put all the little screws back in and your done. Easy as cake.

just be careful when pulling off the little vacuum tube from the top. they don't make them anymore and they were super brittle on mine.
