Default 92 4.3 vortec idle problems

First of all, thanks for your help! This is my first post here, as I just bought this blazer for my teenage son. so, I bought it with a little trouble, thinking I could fix it. It idles high with the tpc unplugged. when you unplug it in, it idles It just idles up and down relatively quickly. It's just simply the idle. Also, whoever had it before, unhooked the valve cover vacuum that i guess hooked to the air filter somehow. They put a different "type" of air filter. The hose is just sucking air. any suggestions of what to do with that?

hey man old blazers are sometimes clown shoes ill give you that, that vacuum line can have a little breather put on it. i think they sell em at auto zone looks like a little tiny cone filter. For the idle i had problems some years ago with mine, had to replace the IAC valve on the throttle body a few times, bought a cheap one that didn't work, then had to get a higher quality part and it was fine. start cheap first is always a safe way to go.
