Default 92 blazer heater core (replace)

From the day I bought this blazer the interior has had that sweet anti-freeze smell. I could see the drip exiting the heater core enclosure and splash on the floor mat. It wasn't top priority for me since it was using a cup of water every week but today was D-day.

I found this link that details step by step on removal and install:

http://www.sytyarchives.com/howto/vi...imate_controls

Pretty much followed the instructions, total time was under 4 hours. I could tell the heater core had been replaced before, there was a 1/4" socket in the heater box someone left behind and a couple of screws were missing or left out.

I did notice a couple of things I would like to add to this repair. After removing the far right dash bolt and the center bolt the dash still is rather stiff to move. The sun baked dash is brittle and will crack if pushed to far, I found that out the hard way. On the install I found that this is a 2 person job, one to hold back on the dash and another to insert the new heater core. Other than that is was a one person job.

Great tutorial. I just tried to get mine out the other week and was too scared to touch the dash thinking I wouldn't be able to get it back in, but this has brought new life to the job for me.

I replaced the heater core in a friend's 93 S-15 Jimmy. It's not a difficult job. Just make sure you take time and move everything carefully and don't get pissed and start yanking things off like I did.

I replace mine 2 times on my 92 by my self, its and aggravating job, many screws, yet its not a tough job to do by yourself.
