What kind of "gunk"? Black soot that smelled like gas or white chalky ash?

Have you changed that o2 sensor yet?

Then why would you be worried about timing when you're running rich but the o2 is saying lean?!

People suggested it, I said I was skeptical of it! I did mention it, it's in the title.

Anyway, I have switched the o2, I did this morning. I still got a code 44 on my commute, but my MPG don't seem to be AS terrible, when I get paid on thursday we'll know for sure. I haven't cleared the code to see if it'd come back up because I wanted to see if it would clear itself.

Normally, clearing the code is the first thing I do after replacing a failed sensor. I do this because the computer stores codes. It's better to make sure than to assume it's still there because the ecm says so.

Clear the code. When it stores the code the computer defaults to a baseline reading, untill the code is cleared it stays that way. If this doesnt work then check the wires to the o2 sensor.

Update, I cleared the code, still threw 44. I used battery wire, not fuse. Anyway, it's leaking again. I'm ordering a new y pipe, if I can't find one at the local bob karls. I'm tired of trying to get it welded.

ordering it, it's only 83 bucks on amazon, with prime shipping, so no shipment charge, and 2 day shipping. All I have to worry about is the nuts on the studs. some PB blaster will definitely go on daily over the next couple days/weeks, and i've heard that the car running is plenty helpful.
