Is it possible that there is an issue with the timing chain? Is this something that I could fix myself? Thanks for the help.

CHECK YOUR OIL DIPSTICK, for coolant or the smell of coolant the same thing happened to me with mine after one month of have mine my intake manifold gaskets blew out and it died the same way the gaskets only cost i think i paid 30 bucks for the gasket set for mine but mine is an 01 yours should be a lil cheaper and it is something you can do check the tech articles it just came up again so it should still be fresh on the list it will take you step by step
