I use an actual carbon cleaner to clean the EGR valve. Works better than seafoam IMO.

Ok will do, I have the EGR sitting in seafoam now.. I'll pick it up when i get the gasket tomorrow. I had to order it.
When I push the valve (not sure what its called) it gets stuck when i push it down all the way. but will come back up if i move the pick to the side of it. is that still carbon or is suppose to be like that? it moves freely untill i push it all the way down.
also looks like some of old gasket is stuck on the EGR face. been using a pick to try and remove it.

I fixed my issue of when i push down all the way it was getting stuck.
I noticed it had a hex head and i took the bit and pushed down and turned it. now its able to move freely and not get stuck. Was the wrong thing to do? am I suppose to turn that? will it harm anything?
I put the new gasket on tomorrow will report if it fixed my issue.
