From what I have read it take a few oil changes to get the gas out of the oil. Exprect to replace the spider in 2 more years, worst chevy design ever.

If you not getting more gas in your oil the smell should leave rather quickly, for when driving with the oil heating up the gas and the smell of gas will quickly evaporative and be gone because of the heat.

It's been a while since I had the spider changed on the truck and the oil was changed that day. The oil has since been changed once since then as well and for good measure, I had a flush done on the engine. The truck hasn't been driven much lately and the smell of gas has returned. I'm wondering at this point, is this normal for what's been done or am I looking at a new problem?

I wouldn't think that is is normal. Just a thought, did you replace the nut kit too?

This is the nut kit for a 92.

If you didn't it might be leaking now, those lines get rather brittle with age, I had to change mine about 3 years before my spider went bad for the line cracked and of course put gas into the oil.

Ah right, that could be it. I remember reading that it could be brittle (it seemed ok at the time), but perhaps something is going on now. It was not changed during the spider replacement. Thanks for the suggestion!
