EGR seemed to check out OK, I had it off, no crud inside, used some cleaner to clean it up a bit, put back together, starts and stalls within seconds. No codes. I removed the TPS and it will run for a few minutes with the SES light on telling me theres no signal for the TPS, throttles up and down just fine, stalls eventually. Put the TPS back on, and now it wont start at all... I think it may just be flooded from cranking it with no TPS on it, I can smell gas from the exhaust now. Im ready to burn this truck and put myself in debt for 5 years and buy her a new car...

Shouldnt the EGR only be working when the motor is hot? Weve used this truck alot in the past few days, and it rarely stalls on me, now that Ive taken it apart again its not working worth a damn... anyways, Ive got the wife picking up a new TPS for me while shes out to the tune of 50 dollars, and hopefully it will run for me again. The TPS i took off is quite stiff to turn by hand and covered in white power... Ive got the battery unhooked to clear the codes. If it starts up again for me Im just going to buy a new EGR for it tomorrow, I hope they dont cost too much. I have one from an astro van that I got my spider from at the junkyard, but the connector is upside down on it and my AC is in the way of the plug, so I cant use that one. The plunger in both EGRs will stick down if I push it in all the way by hand... Im going to lose it on this truck soon...

fix this problem yet? I have the same problem with my truck. I have spent tons and tons of money on diagnostics at local garages and parts that they said would fix it and they didnt fix it at all. No one can figure it out. Then the other day I was out messing with tthe truck and decided to just tug on the 2 wires going into the lower intake on the drivers side And it changed the way it runs drastically. So I ordered a connector for the fuel injector under the plenum. I havent gotten around to install it yet but im hoping i finally found my long lasting rough idle. I dont know why it would change when its warm but i am pretty sure its the issue because when I pull the wires tite it runs like a clock but as soon as I push on the wires back into the intake it starts to run like a cammed big block again. Does yours happen on hills more then on level ground?

Yes it totally happens more on hills. Thats a great suggestion and Im off to the junkyard tomorrow to get my hands on a couple of these wire harnesses from the wrecks out there. It does seem that the plug on the injector top has a little play in it now that you point that out. It always wiggled a little back and forth.

Ill see how it runs when my new TPS gets here once the woman is done at the hospital today.

My truck was doing that funny stalling at stop signs and red lights too. what fixed it for me was replacing the fuel regulator (might be called fuel pressure regulator). It was actually flooding half the engine, making it run rich. It was a $50 part from NAPA for me. It's part of the fuel injector assembly under the plenum. That's all I can recall from it though. It might be worth looking into though. Good luck

Ive got a couple of those around here that have been in and out of the truck and the problem stays the same. I collected a bunch of stuff at the junkyard last time I went there. Ive gotta get this truck running so I can concentrate on fixing my toyota 4x4 for inspection here... Kinda hard to fix that one when my womans out driving it all the time. Some jerk slammed into it when it was parked and took off and the front bumper, hood, and fender are all buggered now.

Well, maybe tomorrow Ill try a brand new FPR then to the tune of 90 dollars here... Man if thats the case I should just buy one of those refurbished spider units for 300 and cross my fingers and toes.

the FPR is part of the spider, no? My shop told me (and showed me) that to replace the injector would be $300 but recently they started making just the FPR as a part by itself since they seemed to fail quite a bit. Why replace the entire thing for that price if one part will fix it?

Yes the FPR is on the passenger side of the spider. Its 90 bucks for a HELP! brand one here in canada. Gimpy posted a link to a website that I can order the whole works for 300 bucks.

Well, because I have a junkyard spider unit in the truck right now, that was my original problem when i bought this truck. And with the amount of hours I have sunken into taking this thing apart and putting back together while I drink beer all day, I might as well have just ordered the new one... Its fun and all though, but its gotta end somewhere... Plus my wife thinks I dont know what Im doing anymore and just wasthing money too keep myself busy with it... Funny though, its HER truck that Im fixing too... Thats another thing Ill never understand - womens mentality...

00BLUEGTP - You are my hero buddy!!!

What you said was my fix, I didnt even think to check that!

I noticed when the plenum was apart that the connector on the fuel injector was a little loose, but wasnt concerned since it would still click on and was running most times. After reading your post I decided to take her all apart again and have a better look, well it seems the gromet that the wires go through into the plenum is quite worn, and there is slight chafing on the red wires casing, its not exposed yet. But when the truck is running, I can wiggle that blue/red wire harness and make my stalling condition happen!!! I love you brother! I will be going to probably GM tomorrow and buying a new harness that goes from the injector top to the connector behind the alternator into the wiring harness, Ill let everyone know what that part costs me. If GM wants more than 40 bucks for it then Im heading out to the Pick A Part cause there is stuff I need for my other vehicles and friends vehicles too. The Pick A Part yard by my house has ALOT of vehicles in it and is a great score! Thanks again BlueGTP

Hey! Don't even start down that road. I'm sure we'd all fill up the post with horror stories. (The woman thing)
As far as your wiring to your injector is concerned, I was reading another post where this fixed the guy's problem. Pink63impala had a problem with his injector wiring too but he wasn't getting any power to it. When he finally listened and put a new wire on it, it ran great. Wonder what ever happened to him. It's funny. I think some guys get their stuff going and they don't even let you know if it's fixed or not. Oh, well. That's why they don't drop some coin on a good set of books when they can get it for free.

Dont go to the dealer. They sell them at napa for like 18 bucks. its part number 2-18445. They also sell them at advance and autozone but you just have to tell them you need a tbi injector connetor for a 1995 k1500 with 4.3. It wont come up if you tell themyour truck. I know its weird but thats the way it is.
