94 4.3 w timing gears quick question

Default 94 4.3 w timing gears quick question

Ok my blazer was thought to have jumped a tooth on the timing chain so i tore it apart and the timing had not jumped. Now that i got it apart which i have done to 5.7ls me and my car buddys dont know what the gear on the top behind the top timing gear is.Its the one i am pointing at if you can see the picture. Is it the crankshaft position sensor? Someone please let me get a quick response im ready to get this thing back together its bout to rain. Thanks

If I'm seeing your picture correctly, that would be the front end of the engine balance shaft.

Yep, It is the end of the balance shaft. V8 engines do not have this.

Yeah Thanks guys very much. We didnt know if we just had too many beers out in the garage or what because we never remember seeing this on any of the 5.7 v8 camaros. Thanks everyone ill let yall know if the old blazer ever runs right again, lol. thanks again
