Default Am I being safe?

So I'm replacing the leaf springs in my 93 S10 Blazer 4x4. Even though I've soaked all the bolts in PB Blaster every day since I ordered the springs, there is no breaking them lose. So I'm wondering how safe it is for me cutting everything off with an air cutting tool around the gas tank. The tank doesn't leak.

Thanks!

nothing new. ive had to do this with every k5 and s10 ive ever owned. youll be fine. if you wanna get really paranoid. spray the tank down with water or put a fire resistant tarp up there. but as long as your positive your gas tank is solid you can spray all the sparks you want at it. just try to aim them away of course

Also, take pics during this so if anythin does catch fire, we can all witness the experience with you. Keep a fire extinguisher near by just in case.
You should be fine though as abig stated already though.

Oh and in reference to your thread title, just get tested to make sure.

when the spring shop do the job, they don't even waste their time trying to unbolt the leafs-they torch EVERYTHING off. done it myself a few times like that.

even if your tank is "spark proof", it's still a good idea with the extinguisher, since the rubber bushings will burn for days if left alone-and water tends to spalsh around the molten rubber if you're not careful.

GL on the swap.

An extinguisher is always a good thing to have around.

But yeah, using a cut off tool or torch is nothing new when it comes to spring replacement.
