Another stalling while driving and idling problem... '92 CPI
You assume correctly. They apparently have an issue with getting loose/burning a bit. Check to make sure you see no burn trace, no melting and that all the contacts are tight.
I'll definately have to look into that when it stops snowing on me. Now with the IAC is the only thing I can really do is check the distance of the pintle?
The only thing I checked (because I was too lazy to check the pintle) was how dirty the pintle was - and it was foul. I cleaned it carefully and it seemed to make a difference. At that time, though, I had so much else going on I'm not sure if it made any actual difference at all.
Ok so I took it off and it didn't seem really out of the ordinary dirty, but I cleaned it anyways and threw it back in. It seeemed like it helped for awhile, like when it would start sputtering and I hit the gas it would actually save it from dying. It did that for awhile then was just back to how it was before. what the heck is wrong with this thing?!? lol
I'm kind of unsure as to how well my gauge works, but if it does work correctly it said about 45 psi. If that's the true reading, I'm guessing wiring harness problem, since the new pump and sending unit have only been in for about a week?
Thanks so much for the help, everything you guys have recommended has been helping for the best ride and idle I've ever had!

If that's the true reading, 45 psi is too low. You need something like 60 psi for a cold start.
Out of curiosity, what brand pump did you put in? Was it AC Delco or was it something like Airtex or Bosch?

Hmmm I'm not sure but I'm thinkin it was an Airtex. I realize it's not the best, but I just needed something to at least get by when funds are tight. I got about the same reading for fuel pressure on the old pump too, and when I tested it this last time it started right up for me.
So after a short drive around the neighborhood I took off the IMTV to look for washing again and it looked to me as tho there was maybe some on the FPR. I'm not very confident tho since this is the closest I've ever done to workin on actual injectors or in the plenum. So I got a pic and let me know what you guys think (since you guys have tons more experience than myself). Sorry the pic is so crappy all I got is a camera phone [&:]
It's not the best pic as you said, but it does look like there's some washing in there. Get an upper intake manifold gasket, then pull the manifold and check a little closer.
My FPR had been leaking internally for a while before it started leaking externally, but there was a visible washed path from the end down the bottom side to the manifold (easier to see with the manifold off).
Got the replacement at AutoZone for about $45 and it came with the Torx security bit needed to remove and replace the FPR.
This is what mine looked like:
