i need to know where the battery negative ground wire connects to the engine block... a pic would be great but any advice would be accepted.

What are you working on here? Engine?
The typical location is on the back of the passenger side head.

sorry i should have posted it already.. its a 87 s10 blazer with a 2.8 v6.. i know it mounts somewhere in the front of the motor but im not sure exactly where

Yeah, I did not know how far back to go. With the newer 4.3L, the ground is at the back of the passenger cylinder head. On the 2.8L, it could either go to the alternator bracket as stated, or to a accessory mounting bolt on the front of the cylinder head.

It uses the bolt on the small steel bracket on the inside of the head holding the alt. The cable runs under the alt to the battery.
