As far as the loose cam adjustment goes, that isn't uncommon considering what the torque specs are. Take in to account the low torque specs and the waxed frames and it makes for an easy adjustment alteration with as little as bumping a curb.

The tightness of a gear box is a preference thing. If you think it is to tight in the steering, or don't like the way it steers now, you could let the alignment shop know and see if they would back off on the gear box a bit. Or it could be the camber is set a bit strong, or stronger than it used to be, but still within specs.
The first generation Blazers and S-10 pickups are not nearly as pciky, with regards to alignment specs, as the 2nd generation are. It's entirely possilbe your "Tight" steering could simply be too much camber, i.e. positive camber, that can give a quick feel to the steering as well. At the same time, the first gen blazers might still drive straight and wear the tires fine. The 2nd gen blazers, from my experience, require the alingments to be nearly centered in the specs to even drive straight much less provide even tire wear.
