blazer not starting

this is my first post so heres my question, my 89 s10 wasn't started in like two years and i started it to put it in my garage. it pretty much ran like crap but it ran.i changed the trans fluid and my buddy sprayed carb and choke cleaner in the throttle body. i tried to start it and and nothing. it sounds like it wants to start and kicks but itbackfire through the throttle body and one time it cought fire. does anyone have any ideas?

Old gas.... Gasoline does degrade over time. Some engines are more sensitive to crappy gas than others. What you might try first, is dump a few gallons of Premium into the tank, and see if that does not improve its' attitude.

old gas, water in the gas. You are getting spark and everything right?

the tank was empty and i had to put new gas in when it ran the first time.i do have spark but i was thinking about it and we were going to give it a tune up b/c it ran like crap and only had time to change 1 plug. i think it might be different, could that be the problem?

went down today and it started right up and ran awesome.[sm=wtf.gif]
