Man, my engine sounds great. It is a 4.3l (?) engine.
We store the car for the winter and really only drive it in the summer. The oil light is blinking on and off like crazy, but the engine sounds great. Oil level is fine.
Go figure?

1st thing i would do is go buy a mechanical oil gauge and check the pressure. These only need 6psi for every 1k rpm...Mine idles warm slightly under the middle of the gauge(around 20 psi). when moving it runs around 45.

possibly a faulty oil pressure sending unit.

Great info.
I'll be doing that pretty quick.
What is the best type of gauge to get?

Just go get one of them cheap sunpro gauges at autozone, buy a T and tap it in with the oil unit so you have both on and working.
