Default Brakes Grabbing severely (locking-up) for the first mile?!?

First time poster

I have a 1993 with 115K on it. I drive it about 20 miles a month so its not my daily driver. About a month ago i went to get in it after it hadn't been driven in a few weeks, and when I apply the brakes, there is no response and then POW! The blazer slams to a halt. This happens about the first three times i touch the brakes and then they are fine. So by the time i can drive it to the shop (about a mile and a half away), the attendant can not replicate the problem. They tell me they have no idea what it could be. Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I have a similar problem with my 96. Although, mine only happens after it rains/snows. But I believe my problem is the rotor rusts up and then the pads grab real hard until the rust is removed. Do you have the problem all the time?

Again, this just started about a month ago. I've driven it maybe 4 times since then, and yes, every time it does it. But again., by the time i get out of my neighborhood its over.

Alright, the only advice I know to give to you then is to disassemble your brakes and check the pads and rotor for any strange wear patterns or anything that looks out of the ordinary. Good luck!
