Hello again,

About 3 days ago i checked my brakes and they were bad so i redid the back brakes, drums, shoes and hardware... and bled them like crazy because they are soft.. when the car is off they pump up just fine but when i turn the car on they go way soft... (no leaks, brakes adjusted correctly, BLED)

If you do not have any leaks, and your pedal goes to the floor, then your master cylinder is suspect. ( worn piston, internal leak ).

 

Is there some kind of rebuild kit for the Master Cylinder or do i have to go buy a new one?

Oh and i don't know if this has anything to do with the master cylinder being bad but when the car is on and i pump the brakes it like bubbles up in the rear chamber of the master cylinder?

 

I would say master cylinder as well. You could try bleeding the MC by itself and then do all 4 corners again starting at the LR, RR, LF, and finishing with the RF. Bubbling or a spout inside the master cylinder can mean that there is air in the MC.

 

Can i bleed the master cylinder while its still on the car? like just pump the brakes while i have a bleeder kit on it?

 

Yes. I have a set of brake lines I made up quite a while ago that I use. Just direct them back to the reservoir.

Ok, i rebuilt the Master Cylinder and bled it.... bled all the brakes and still the same.

i was wondering could it be the master cylinder cap? when i push down on the cap i can hear air come out and when i let go, go in? not a good seal = no hydraulic pressure?

am i on the right track or not?

 

The cap just keeps the fluid in the reservoir. It does not retain any pressure from the braking system.

With the cap off of the master cylinder, do you see spurts of fluid when you press on the brake pedal? If so, the master cylinder still is not proper.

 

yes iI still see the spurts of fluid out of the rear chamber of the MC? What do I do now, because I rebuilt it?



But I don't think that's the problem though, I just went out to my moms 1995 suburban and her MC does the same thing (if not worse) so now I'm stumped?
