Broken torsion bar mount help?
So for the longest time when i turn a sharp left i get a constant clunk. Ive looked and looked and asked a gm tech and she said it sounds like a torsion bar mount. Well ive looked many times and couldnt find the mounts...Until today
Located at the torsion bar crossmember on each size mounted to the frame? When i push up on the passengers side it lifts up. Drivers side is fine. So i guess i found what im looking for?
Now can i slide a my tire jack underneath the edge and jack it up high enough to clear the mounting bolt in the center of the mount and pull it out? Im able to push it about 1/2" with my arm. I hope i dont have to remove the whole crossmember etc..thats out of my skill range with the torsion keys etc.

If its like the 2nd generation ones you will have to pull the crossmember in order to replace the mount. Seems very unlikely though to me that the mount is broke. Either way, if you are worried about it then just pull the crossmember, torsion bars, and then check it out. It really is something you can most likely do with a little research before hand.

I just came in from attempting it. Both mounts are bad.(middle part of the mounts are seperated in 2 pieces). Thing is i cant replace the passenger side. The drivers side gets high enough but the passengers side only moves maybe a inch..ugh..a hour wasted.

I replaced a torsion bar mount recently. The trick is to jack up the side opposite from the one you're replacing. Also, the passenger side is a PITA but with the Moog replacements that I bought the passenger side is slightly modified in order to get it in easier. I thought that might be helpful. I know this was a couple weeks back but I figured maybe you didn't get a solution yet.
