Default Can't keep motor running

A while back like a dummy, I ran out of gas in my '89 S-10 Blazer. I then filled up the gas tank and also put in some gas treatment . Now I can't keep it running without working the gas peddle. The truck started and ran very well prior to this incident .Changed the fuel filter under the truck but still no luck. Are there any other filters that need to be changed. Oh, I forgot to say it has the 4.3 L engine and it is a 4 X 4. I don't think that bad gas is the cause. I would appreciate any ideas on what to check.

I would suspect a week fuel pump. Try pouring a small amount of gas directly in the TBI and if it runs well for a few moments then there is something wrong with your fuel delivery system. Then I would get a fuel pressure monitor gage and check the pressure. For TBI you need about 7-11 psi. The bad news is there is not an easy way to measure the fuel pressure on a 1st Gen TBI. I have a kit that I have to break the fuel line and install the gage. I installed the gage at the hose connection underneath the engine. I think you can get a gage kit from Autozone for free. Pay a deposit and get the deposit back when you return the tool. I have since installed an permenant in-line fuel gage from CFM-Tech. This is right at the fuel inlet to the TBI so can check fuel pressure any time I need to.

Were you able to figure out what is wrong with your blazer? It is always nice to know what actually was wrong and how you were able to fix it. This helps out any one else who may be experiencing a simular problem.
