Default cold engine

Ok in morning when I start up it takes a while to warm up and run proper. In fact I was thinking about changing the thermostat ? I get hot air and cold air It just seems to take a while to warm the engine. Once it is warm runs great.200k miles on the engine. Any ideas or help would be much appreciated.
again Thanks Just plain lucky

What does your temp guage show when you get hot air from the heater? I trust is goes up as it runs. And does it run up to the 210 degree mark before the thermostat kicks in and cools the engine? A stuck, or partially stuck thermostat will cause all sorts of problems as these engines and the systems working with it are VERY heat sensitive.

MY '92 Is slow to warm, but changing the thermostat helped that quite a bit. Mine, in fact, was stuck partially open and even the idle was way high as a result of not reaching the proper engine temp to operate.
