Default do all 4wd's have oil filter behind driver headlamp?

I went to the parts store and asked about a hose leaking that runs to the oil filter and he told me this was an aftermarket piece, that the oil filter should be located on the block, Is this true?

Nope, the dude must be a rookie. Better find a parts store that has experienced people that know vehicles From the factory, 1st gen T body, (4WD) oil filters are behind the left headlamp. 1996 and newer, 2nd gen, 4.3L engine, it's under the radiator.

There are 4 different lines, depends what you have. Use this link: Dorman Products

Use the drop down menu to load your vehicle, then look under "oil cooler line assembly". Most parts stores can order Dorman products, just give them the part number.

Most parts stores sell a universal gasket kit for $5 or so for repairing these leaks. If its the hoses themselves you can buy those as well for like $60 I think on rockauto.com

Make sure its not the oring that the adapter mounts too. pressure wash that area clean, start her up and lay there and eyeball it. there is a oring and a gasket under the adapter (between the block) thats prone to leaking.

Only the 4.3s had it. The 4 bangers and 60 degree has room for a block mounted filter
