Default Draining Gas Tank

I was thinking of dropping my tank this weekend to check my fuel pump, etc. I'm not sure of how much gas I have, due to my gas gauge doesnt work.(I go by mileage) I should have very little.

But I was wondering could I disconnect my fuel filter from the fuel "In" side and make up a line to attach to the fuel line and just hook up the Fuel Pump HOT wire under the hood and "pump" out all my fuel in to gas cans. So I dont have to siphon it out.

Let me know. Thanks

If the pump is working, that will definitely pump the fuel out. Be safe though. Have an extinguisher handy.
