My 94 blazer has been running rough for the past 2 days and the service engine light came on. I ran the scanner and code 32 came up which is the EGR Valve. My question is, what are the chances the valve just needs to be cleaned as opposed to replacing it. I got a price for a new valve of $208.00 I hope it just needs to be cleaned.

What's your opinion?

Clean it and see! Worst case scenario is that you spend a few dollars on a new gasket and some cleaner only to still have the code 32.

These valves do like to get carbon'd up and not work properly so it's worth a try.

When it came time to replace mine on my `94. I went to o`reillys. I don`t recall paying that much, and got a lifetime guarantee. Haven`t had any problems since!

On my 92 S-10, I cleaned it about 3 times, after that I bought a new one. Don't remember the cost but it was not $200.00 plus dollars, seems it was under $100.00 at my favorite locally owned parts store.
