Default Engine "Dieseling" - continutes to run after being cut off

what are the most common reasons my 84 2.8 v6 carb motor would do this? let it warm up and idle for a while, cut it off and it chugs and sputters till it dies, usually about 5 seconds. hitting the gas makes it almost rev then die. has been sitting for six months. got it from a guy for a good price... if i can diagnose this.

Totally unrelated to his engine... There is no pressure regulator...

The carb could need rebuilding, or if your lucky just some tuning.

not bad. got a can of sea foam and checking the timing as soon as i can. def needs a good tune up so thats going to happen regardless. quick question... what are the benifits of using sea foam in your oil as well as in the gas?

Seafoam in the oil is to clean out any deposits in your engine oil system. It should only be run for 250 miles MAX. In the gas it acts as a fuel injector cleaner, but there are better alternatives for fuel injector cleaners.
