Okay so here is a little update on things. The truck lives and runs like a dream. I got under there again finally and looked at the distributor. It was shot. Part of it had cracked and was moving around which caused it to over heat. I moved on to the coil pack and it too was shot because of over heating due to the distributor being shot. Following the wire trail a little further I find a plug inside the plenum that the wires got hot and melded the end of the plug and caused the wires to come out of the plug. Everything is good to go now and I can finally start driving the whee-beastie on a daily basis and working on the race car.
