If the new pump dies I hope it is after my shoulder is back to normal and that I would be able to do the labor. You are right, the shop is not going to eat the labor if the pump dies within warranty period but it is a risk I am willing to accept.

 

u should be ok though. delphi is a decent pump.

 

Got my car back today and the shop did change the fuel filter along with the relay. Car is running great. Now I am going to monitor the performance of the gas gauge compared to the Spectra sending unit that was in the car before the pump died. The shop had no problem installing the Delphi fuel pump assembly that I purchased and provided to the shop. So far so good, only time will tell.

 

ive replaced the pump twice in the last 6 yrs. and its loud again. I do have a delco pump its still running but im glad that i spent more for the delco

 

do you HAVE to remove the gas tank to get at the pump? anyone ever cut through the floor? or is that just crazy?

 

Yes, you have to drop the tank. Yes, there has been some who have cut an access hole in the floor. The problem you have with the blazer is that there is a structural support that you would have to cut to gain access to the top of the tank where the pump is located. I would not advise against cutting the floor up. The time and effort you would put into making an access cut you could easily have the tank down and the pump out.

 

I have been monitoring the fuel gauge to check to see if it is reading correctly. Right now it is reading an 1/8 of a tank and I need to know if I will run out of gas before the gauge reads E. So I have a gas can with about 3 gallons of gas in the back of the car and I plan I driving it until it reads E or I run out of gas. Once it hits the E mark and I am still running I will fill it up, I am not interested in running the tank dry. I just want to know that I can get to the E mark before it dies.

The one I had before in the jimmy was a delphi, previous owner put it in, had receipts. It lasted a little over 3 years.
I put another Delphi in it. I like um.

 

What kind of fuel pressure are you getting with the new fuel pump? I just installed a new Delphi pump in my 94 s10 cpi and I am only getting 50 or 51 psi at idle. Is this enough pressure?
