getting 92 s10 blazer out of 4x4
There is a vacuum switch in the transfer case. when the transfer case is in 4WD the switch directs vacuum to an actuator under the battery that pulls a cable to lock in the front axles.
If you take off the encoder motor (3 bolts) and shift the transfer case to 2WD, then the switch dumps the vacuum and the front axles disengage.
If you just want to disengage your front axles, pull the vacuum hose off the the actuator (under the battery) and plug the hose.
